Chino Angles -

Meet Chino Angles, an editorial photographer based in Houston, Texas. Originally hailing from Nigeria, Chino discovered his passion for photography years ago, quickly making it his profession. His work has been featured in esteemed publications, including Rolling Stone, Vice, Houstonia Mag, and VoyageHouston, among others.

Chino’s work blends the depth of Black experiences with elements of horror, beauty, art, fashion, and film. His practice is rooted in the exploration of identity, the complexities of representation, and the nuanced ways in which fear, beauty, and culture coexist. He uses the medium of photography to both challenge and celebrate the ways Blackness is portrayed and perceived, while subverting traditional narratives to create a more dynamic, layered understanding of who we are.

Fashion and film are crucial components of his work, serving as both a visual language and a means of storytelling. Fashion allows him to manipulate form and identity, to explore how Black individuals can use style as a way of asserting power and reclaiming narratives. Through cinematic influences, He creates images that feel both familiar and otherworldly, where the boundaries between reality and imagination blur.

His work is not only about representation but about reimagining what it means to be Black in a world that often reduces us to singular narratives. He want to approach each project with the intention of highlighting Black beauty in all its forms—whether it’s through the boldness of a fashion statement, the intimacy of a portrait, or the raw emotion captured in a cinematic frame.

His work exists as both a critique and a celebration. It critiques the limited and often dehumanizing portrayals of Blackness in pop culture, while simultaneously celebrating our complexity, creativity, and unwavering spirit. Through the blending of horror, beauty, art, fashion, and film, he wants to create a visual space where the full spectrum of Black experiences can be seen, felt, and reimagined.
